About Lehenga Choli:

Lehenga is the Indian word for a long, voluminous, flowy skirt worn with matching or contrast blouses called cholis. Hence, the term lehenga choli. The lehnga-choli is one of the most graceful attires that a woman can adorn and is a particular favourite for bridal wear because of the grandiose look it lends to the wearer. It is accessorized by a long scarf called the ‘dupatta’ which alone has several styles of draping.

Here are some common styles for the Lehenga Choli.

Full Flared Lehenga: This lehenga is designed with a wide flare and great volume. The lehenga is designed with numerous pleats around the waist and is usually made in long, smooth, silky, flowing fabrics. The cholis are plain or embellished and the dupatta can be worn in any way.

Straight Cut Lehenga: The lehenga resembles a wrap-around skirt and falls straight from the waist to the hemline. There are slits on the sides to facilitate movement for the wearer. It gives a long and enhanced look to the body when paired with choli styled to show off the collarbone.

A-Line Lehenga: The cut of this skirt looks like the alphabet A which and flares out gradually from the waist to the hem. It is usually designed to accentuate the upper body and is paired with lovely cholis and dupattas.

Mermaid Lehenga: The mermaid or the fish-cut lehenga is styled to fit snugly upto the knees and then flare our gracefully, much like a red-carpet gown. The design of the gown accentuates the curves of the wearer. Any kind of choli will look great on this kind of lehenga.

Bridal Lehenga: This type of lehenga is heavily embellished with stones and beads on delicate material like silk or chiffon to give a grand look to the bride for her wedding. The choli and dupattas are also embellished and designed with great care.

Care tips:

Whatever be the kind of Lehenga Choli, it is advised to wash them separately. Heavily embellished silk and other materials like georgette or chiffon should be dry-cleaned and stored in a moisture-free spot.
